The Public Health Nutrition Program provides services for the three northern health authorities such as:

  • School nutrition support
  • Promoting nutrition as a part of a healthy lifestyle for all ages and to prevent diseases, such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease
  • Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program support, including pre/post natal assessments, promotion of breastfeeding
  • Community nutrition program support, including gardening, Good Food Box programs, after school youth program
  • Prenatal nutrition support through cooking classes
  • Training and consultation to health care providers, schools, community groups
  • Advocacy to help make healthy food choices more available
  • Involvement in the development of provincial resources and standards around nutrition
